Launched by Global Trust Bank on November 14, 2001 the “GTB – Chhote Kalaakar 2001” – a national level drawing competition for children in association with the Rotary clubs across various cities is an attempt to foster the latent creative expressions in children. The competition starting at school level had over one lakh children participating at the city level competition held in 23 cities.

The city level competition of Chhote Kalaakar for the Surat city was held on 19-01-2002 with over 150 children participating from over ten schools in the city. Our club – Rotary Surat Riverside co-hosted the event held at Jeevanbharti School. The winners from the three categories in Surat city were:

Eminent personalities such as Rtn. Bankim Dave, Chairman of National Institute of Interior Designers, Shri Gajendra Majethia (a prominent artist), Faculty of P.T.College of Fine Arts and Rtn. Jugal Shinglot  of Rotary Surat Riverside were the judges at the Surat level competition.

The first prize winners will have their winning paintings sent to the National level Competition. A panel of eminent judges will select the National winners from amongst winnign paitings received from 23 cities across the country. While city level prizes include sports cycles, cameras and watches; mega prizes such as Personal Computers, video players and VCD players await the National Winners.
