Fund Collection Campaign for TRF and MG Project.

Venue: Fame, Raj Empire Multicomplex

Purpose: Contribute to TRF & generate fund for MG of library at Vesu School

As the dates for monthly service project of November (Events to raise funds for Club Projects) were immediately after the Diwali holidays, we decided to shift the timing to the last week of January as most families (especially Anns) would be free from the exam tensions of their children.

After much brain storming at general and club assembly meetings, it was decided to arrange for a fundraising event in the form of a first show of a latest bollywood blockbuster movie on a holiday. The forthcoming release “SUNDAY” starring Ajay Devgan and Ayesha Takia was the unanimous winner as it would be easier to sell tickets of this movie. It was made mandatory for all members to purchase a minimum of four tickets at the rate of Rs.1000 in which they were provided a combo offer of tickets plus popcorns and colas each.

Riversiders met on 27th January 2008, Sunday morning for the 10:00 am show to see the movie at one of the multi complex. The committed members not only booked 80 tickets before hand, but also had the President scampering for more tickets as 52 more willing Rotarians joined in the cause of fundraising at the nth hour.

A total of 132 tickets were sold and we managed to raise funds amounting to approx Rs. 45000/- out of which Rs.13200/- were for ticket expenses, and the rest to be used for charitable purposes. The club subsidized the mandatory purchase of Shree Yantras from the district as a part of TRF contribution scheme deviced by DG Ashok Panjwani. The fund proceeds would also be utilized towards the club contribution towards a matching grant project to build up a library at our adopted school - the Vesu Panchayat School.

Overall, it was excellent fellowship, great crowd, the movie was good and everyone thoroughly enjoyed. Excellent arrangements were made by Rtn Dhruv Trivedi, Rtn Jugal Shinglot and Pres Sanjay. CONGRATULATIONS to Dhruv, Jugal and Sanjay.
