Under the able leadership of Charter President Rtn Jayesh Dhamanwala and the fatherly guidance of Rtn Prafull Bhatt, the club took up a project of Tree Plantation at the campus of Experimental School.
The exact date of this very first 'Green' project of RSR is not on records, but the students of the school can be seen in the picture preparing to plant saplings in rainy and muddy playground of the school.
See more pictures of this project in our photo gallery.

Vanmahotsav:-
It was a bright Sunday morning with tender drops of water making it the perfect time for tree plantation programme on the 18th August 2002 at the factory premises of Salasar Dyeing at Palsana.
RSR Tree Plantation 2002-03
It was a good idea of having the tree plantation programme at an industrial site, where the necessity of not only ourselves undertaking plantation but also educating the locals and the workmen – the benefits of such activities. Because they are the real benefactors and an appraisal of this fact will motivate them to take care of the plants and carry on the activity themselves and mission will be a success. The group of Riversider family struggling to keep up their time commitment were all geared up after a medium range drive away from Surat city. Within no time of reaching the site after a testing journey through muddy waters, the annets who were actively taking part planted most of the saplings.
We acknowledge Rtn. Sunil Kapadia for having made the arrangements for the saplings well on time and Rtn. Ankur Marfatia who conceived the whole program. One thing we need to make a note is to depute someone to prepare the pitch also next time.
This trip has paved an opportunity for everyone and especially the Anns and Annets to have a look and understand how the insides of a running unit look like. Thanks to Mr. Prakashbhai – owner of Salasar Dyeing for allowing us to carry on the program in his unit and for the high tea.

There were around 16 school children of economically backward parents each of who were presented a packet consisting of 10 notebooks and 1 compass box.
The notebooks were sponsored by Rtn. Sanjay and the compass box and stationery by Rtn. Siddharth. Rtn. Bankim Vashi had brought some clothes which were distributed amongst the children.

Tree Plantation Project at Vesu Panchayat School (2007):-
Our commitment towards our environment “Green Surat”, and strengthening our bonds with the village school at Vesu took further “roots” with our tree plantation drive along the boundary wall of the school.
RSR Tree Plantation 2007-08
It was a pleasure to see some of us who are late risers, especially on a Sunday, turn up at 8:30 am on the 5th August 2007. The ground work had been meticulously done by the community affairs director PP Rtn Jugal Shinglot. The entire strip along the boundary wall had been cleared of bushes and 200 saplings were ready to be planted for TEAM-103 of RSR. The ball was sent rolling by the Guest of Honour for the day – the conservator of Forest, Surat Range, Shri R.J.Asari (IFS) who planted the first sapling.
The Riversiders soon joined in and were ably assisted by Annes, Annets and IYE students. We were highly inspired by the presence of Rtn Tarun Dave (RC Udhna) & AG Rtn. Sanjay Gajiwala. Our task of course was made easier by the excellent preparatory work done earlier and all of us then joined the Principal of the school Smt. Champaben Patel for a befitting breakfast of Bhajiya and Chai. It being the first Sunday of August, our club celebrated the World Friendship Day by tying friendship bands on the wrists of all IYE annets.
A good piece of work done along with an enjoyable fellowship. Keep it up RSR.

On the morning of Sunday the 27th July 2008, everyone gathered at the plot opposite the Gate No. 1 of VNSGU for a noble cause. The event started by honouring our guests: The Vice Chancellor of VNSGU – Mr. B.A.Prajapati and Deputy Commissioner of SMC - Mr. Mahendrasingh. They both planted the first saplings to motivate everybody. All the Riversiders alongwith the new members, Anns & Annets also took pride in planting small saplings of sizeable pure Neem in the pre-marked spots.
President Ravi has given a contract to plant and maintain a total of 2000 saplings in a time span of 2 years. The inbound IYE students Natsumi Matsuda (Japan) and Eirica Seifert (USA) were also present. Moreover a crew of Big 92.7 FM with R.J. Hemant was witness to the whole project. R.J. Hemant interviewed Shri Prajapati, Shri Mahendrasingh & President Rtn Ravi Shah. He also took on record the feelings of both the IYE students. These audio links were aired on the same afternoon on the radio. Thus the project was publicized in a BIG way.
The event was made more enjoyable by keeping a very delicious breakfast of Bhajiya & tea. The Rain Gods also seemed pleased with the initiative of RSR as it started raining soon after the plantation.

The forest officer N.M.Mistry of Surat Range provided all kinds of saplings including tall & short trees, self-growing and flowering plants. President Amit took the privilege of planting the first sapling and soon all joined the cause including in-charge principal Mr. Ramesh Patel.
It has been observed that trees without tree guards do not survive and hence, members donated handsome amount to purchase tree guards to protect them. The event was well covered by media houses and radio channel BIG 92.7 FM which mentioned about the plantation five times a day and aired an exclusive interview of President Amit after the plantation.

Please see a few video clips of coverage of our tree plantation by Channel Eye Witness, Channel Hind TV and on Radio BIG 92.7 FM
